Brykerwood Veterinary Clinic is a well-established, high-performing small animal practice located in the heart of Austin, Texas. We’ve proudly served our community for over 37 years and are known for our family-like atmosphere, collaborative team dynamic, and loyal clientele who trust us with high-quality care. Our 4 doctor team works together seamlessly, making this a fantastic environment for learning and mentorship.

Externship Overview:
Veterinary externs will work side-by-side with experienced DVMs and support staff to gain practical experience in:

  • Patient history taking and physical exams

  • Diagnostic workups and development of treatment plans

  • Observing, assisting, or performing surgical procedures (based on experience)

  • Dental cleanings and oral health assessments

  • In-house lab work and imaging

  • Medical management of cases

  • Client communication and teamwork with staff

This externship is ideal for students who want to sharpen both clinical and communication skills in a well-rounded, general practice setting that emphasizes mentorship, collaboration, and case ownership.

Program Details:
📍 Location: Austin, TX
🕒 Duration: typically 2 weeks minimum, up to 4 weeks (flexible to student schedule)
🎓 Open to: 3rd- and 4th-year DVM students
💵 Stipend: Up to $1,500 for eligible clinical-year students
