Coffee Road Animal Hospital
An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. Although every NVA hospital is unique, we all have some things in common: an environment that is supportive, committed to excellent medicine, and provides exceptional service to animals and the people who love them.

Coffee Road Animal Hospital and Pet Resort was founded in 1991 and is a full-service veterinary practice located in Bakersfield, CA. We have a facility that is clean, comfortable, and efficient. Our veterinarians and staff are committed to staying on top of the latest diagnostics, treatments, and wellness programs to maintain our patients’ optimal health. We are a full-service animal hospital that will take both emergency cases as well as less urgent medical, surgical, and dental issues. Our mission at Coffee Road Animal Hospital is to provide comprehensive high-quality veterinary care with an emphasis on exceptional client service and patient care.

During your externship, you will have the ability to gain critical exposure to basic surgical and dental procedures, along with proficiency in basic examinations and development of practical differential diagnoses. Client and staff communications along with appropriate medical record keeping techniques will be emphasized as well.

Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.

Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. The stipend amount for Coffee Road Animal Hospitals $1,500.
