Responsibilities

At Hawthorne Park Animal Care Center, we provide our team of doctors with the opportunity to pursue a fulfilling career while still having time to enjoy the things they love outside of work. We have a schedule designed with work-life balance in mind, including a 4-day workweek, generous PTO, CE days, and just one half-day Saturday every three weeks. And, of course, no on-call or after-hours emergency duties!

We have a tenured and fully utilized support team of 5 CVTs, 8 assistants, and 5 receptionists who help keep things running smoothly and allow our doctors to focus on practicing medicine. Each doctor has, on average, two team members supporting them throughout the day, along with dedicated surgical support on surgery days. Our doctors each have one surgery day per week, and our appointment schedule includes 20-minute appointments, same-day medical visits, and time built in for lunch and callbacks.

We also enjoy spending time together outside of the hospital. Bowling, wine tasting, putt-putt golf, hockey games, lunches, dinners, and more! We’re a close-knit group and always up for a good time.

Our AVMA-accredited practice is well equipped with the technology and equipment needed to provide excellent patient care. We have a spacious surgical suite with a CO2 cutting laser and advanced monitoring equipment, a well-stocked treatment area with Midmark dental equipment, digital radiography and high-speed drills, and a Versana Active ultrasound machine. We also have an expansive boarding and grooming area and a fully operational rehabilitation space with a hydrotherapy treadmill and therapeutic cold laser.

Our doctors see a variety of cases, from wellness visits to medical appointments, and work together to provide individualized care based on each patient's needs. We support one another through case consultations and collaboration, and we're open to discussing new clinical interests that could complement our practice. We'd especially love to welcome a veterinarian with an interest in chiropractic or orthopedic services, but we're happy to explore other interests as well.

We are also proud to support our community through our work with several canine police units, the Humane Society of Central Illinois, and our annual Vets for Vets event, where we provide free services to local veterans on Veterans Day.

If you enjoy general medicine, diagnosing and treating a wide variety of cases, and working alongside a supportive team, we'd love to chat!
