Summer Street Cat Clinic is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) for an exciting opportunity at Western New York’s Original Cat-Exclusive hospital! We pride ourselves on providing the highest standard of care to our feline patients, building strong, lasting relationships with our loyal clientele. We are looking for a skilled, enthusiastic Licensed Veterinary Technician who loves cats and excels at low-stress handling. You will work closely with our veterinarians and support staff to provide top-tier medical care, monitor anesthesia, run diagnostics, and ensure our feline patients feel safe and comfortable from arrival to discharge.
Key Responsibilities
• Patient Care & Handling: Execute fear-free and low-stress handling/restraint techniques specifically tailored for felines during exams, treatments, and procedures.
• Nursing & Treatments: Administer oral, SQ, IM, and IV medications; place IV catheters and manage fluid therapy; monitor hospitalized or recovering cats.
• Laboratory & Diagnostics: Collect blood samples (jugular and medial saphenous), and run in-house lab work (CBC, chemistry, urinalysis, fecal analysis).
• Anesthesia & Surgery: Assist with surgical preps, induce and monitor anesthesia, and monitor post-op recovery.
• Dentistry: Perform routine dental cleanings and take digital dental radiographs.
• Client Education: Discharge patients with clear home-care instructions, explain medication administration, and educate owners on feline wellness and preventative care.
Qualifications & Skills
• Active, in-good-standing license as a Veterinary Technician (LVT).
• Minimum [1–2+] years of hands-on small animal or feline-specific clinical experience.
• Strong technical skill set (venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interactions.
• Positive attitude, attention to detail, and a true team player mentality.
