About Canton Veterinary Hospital:

Are you looking for a veterinary team that works hard, laughs often, and genuinely looks out for one another? At Canton Veterinary Hospital, being a great teammate is just as important as doing a great job.

Our team has a fun, lighthearted atmosphere where people step up for each other without having to be asked. Everyone cares about their coworkers, works together to keep the day running smoothly, and understands that supporting one another makes a difference for our patients and clients, too.

We’re looking for a Client Service Representative (CSR) who will bring that same collaborative spirit to our front desk. We want someone who enjoys connecting with people, cares about animals, and wants to contribute to a positive team culture—not just show up for a shift.

If you enjoy making people feel welcome, staying organized in a busy environment, and being part of a team that truly has each other’s backs, we’d love to meet you!

About the Role:

As a Client Service Representative, you’ll be one of the first points of contact for clients and their pets. You’ll help create a welcoming experience, coordinate appointments, communicate with the medical team, and keep the front desk organized so the hospital can provide excellent care.

Previous veterinary experience is required. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys client service and wants to continue growing their knowledge of veterinary medicine.

What You’ll Do

• Welcome clients and their pets: Greet clients warmly, answer questions, and help ensure they feel supported throughout their visit.

• Manage appointments: Schedule wellness visits, vaccinations, rechecks, surgeries, and other appointments while helping maintain an efficient hospital schedule.

• Answer phones and communicate with clients: Handle incoming calls, return messages, provide appointment information, and direct medical questions to the appropriate team member.

• Coordinate patient visits: Complete client check-in and check-out, prepare necessary forms, communicate appointment instructions, and schedule follow-up visits.

• Support the medical team: Work closely with veterinarians and veterinary technicians to coordinate patient flow and communicate important information, including incoming emergencies.

• Provide compassionate client care: Respond with empathy and professionalism when clients are worried, stressed, or grieving the loss of a pet.

• Process payments: Prepare invoices, collect payments, explain available payment options, and complete related paperwork in accordance with hospital policies.

• Help clients understand services: Share information about hospital services, preventive care, appointment preparation, and other routine client needs within the scope of the role.

• Maintain an organized front desk: Keep the reception and waiting areas clean, restock forms and supplies, and help ensure the front office is ready for each day.

• Be a dependable teammate: Communicate clearly, assist coworkers when needed, arrive on time, and contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.

What We’re Looking For

• At least 1 year of veterinary experience, preferably in veterinary reception, client service, or a similar hospital role.

• Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to make clients feel welcome and supported.

• A genuine interest in animal care and an understanding of the important role client service plays in a veterinary hospital.

• The ability to multitask, prioritize competing needs, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.

• A collaborative attitude and willingness to step in and help teammates when needed.

• Professionalism, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.

• Compassion and emotional maturity when working with sick or injured pets and clients experiencing difficult situations, including euthanasia.

• The ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, including prolonged standing and occasional lifting of up to approximately 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Availability for part-time shifts, including rotating Saturdays, with scheduling flexibility as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

• $17–$20 per hour, based on experience • Part-time schedule of up to 30 hours per week

• Typically three 8-hour shifts per week

• Rotating Saturdays

• Some flexibility when scheduling needs allow

• Employee discount

• Opportunities to continue learning and grow within veterinary medicine

• A fun, supportive team that values collaboration, kindness, and helping one another succeed.
