Riverview Animal Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Room Assistant to join our team. As a full-service 10 doctor veterinary office, we offer state-of-the-art diagnostics, wellness, advanced care, routine and advanced surgical procedures, laparoscopy, ultrasound, rehabilitation, urgent care and many other services to provide our pet community with the best care. Our hospital provides a level of medicine that is uncommon for a general practice.

Veterinary Room Assistant Role Requirements

  • Veterinary hospital or canine and feline handling experience required
  • An employee in this position must have a sense of caring for animals, be able to lift approximately 50 pounds, walk dogs of up to 130 pounds.

Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities

  • Professional client communication and education obtaining medical histories and symptoms along with electronic medical record keeping skills.
  • After the appointment – answer questions the client may have, insure that client has received and understands all medications, after care, client education, and follow up appointments needed.  
  • Provide excellent customer service, and insure that both pets and clients are comfortable and have their needs meet.  
  • Laboratory procedures preparing or preforming: hematology, cytology, urinalysis, blood chemistry, and fecals.
  • Diagnostic imaging - Radiographs and Ultrasound
  • Restrain pets for veterinarians and nurses
  • Anticipate doctors needs for well and sick pet appointments
  • Provide compassionate care for pets, monitor, record, and report physical signs of pets here for appointments or treatments.  May assist with hospitalized patients as well. 

Compensation

  • The base hourly range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00. Our pay ranges are primarily determined by role and level of responsibilities. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and additional factors such as relevant education or training.
