North 10th Street Animal Hospital offers up to a $2500 travel stipend for clinical year externships.

An externship at North 10th Street Animal Hospital, an NVA practice in McAllen, TX, offers veterinary students the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on clinical experience while learning in a supportive, mentorship-focused environment. As a well-established 6-doctor small animal and limited exotics hospital, we provide exposure to a diverse caseload including wellness care, urgent care, surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, and optional exotics medicine.

Students will work closely with our veterinarians and experienced support team to develop skills in patient assessment, diagnostics, treatment planning, client communication, dentistry, and surgery. Our hospital is equipped with advanced medical tools and services, including in-house IDEXX diagnostics, digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, cold laser therapy, acupuncture, and dedicated dental and surgical suites.

Like all NVA hospitals, we are committed to excellent medicine, exceptional client service, and fostering the growth of future veterinary professionals.

Most externship experiences at North 10th Street Animal Hospital range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
