Job Summary:
The Director, Market & Network Strategy is accountable
for defining NVA's desired physical footprint market by market. This role
determines where the enterprise should have a presence, how dense that presence
should be, and how GP, Specialty and ER/Urgent Care locations should be
configured across a market. The role's core output is a clear network point of
view: which markets warrant investment and which footprint actions - expansion,
relocation, consolidation, or new-site development - best position the
portfolio for the future.
The Director leads the market-planning and network-design
work required to reach those decisions. Using demand, competition,
demographics, consumer economics, industry dynamics, and NVA's existing
portfolio position, the role defines future-state facility mix, capacity,
coverage, density, and white-space needs. The Director partners with Property
Development, Finance, Growth, and Operations to test scenarios and recommend
the portfolio moves that should advance into investment and execution planning.
Core Responsibilities:
- Own the enterprise market-planning process and establish a
prioritized view of where NVA should invest, maintain, reshape, or reduce its
physical presence.
- Size and rank market opportunities using demand,
competition, demographics, consumer economics, industry dynamics, and other
relevant indicators.
- Assess NVA's existing GP, Specialty and ER/Urgent Care
footprint to determine current coverage, capacity, density, competitive
position, and structural gaps by market.
- Define the desired future-state network for each priority
market, including facility mix, capacity, geographic coverage, network density,
and white-space opportunities.
- Evaluate specific network actions - expansions, relocations,
consolidations, and new sites - and compare the strategic advantages,
tradeoffs, and sequencing of alternative footprint configurations.
- Develop market-level portfolio scenarios that show how
different location and capacity choices would change NVA's coverage and market
position.
- Set priorities for the Senior Analyst / Analyst, Market
& Network Strategy and ensure analyses are designed to answer concrete
footprint decisions rather than produce stand-alone market reporting.
Key Deliverables and Outcomes:
- A prioritized enterprise market plan identifying where NVA
should focus footprint investment and network actions.
- Future-state footprint blueprints for priority markets,
defining facility mix, capacity, coverage, density, and white-space
needs.
- Decision-ready scenarios comparing expansion, relocation,
consolidation, and new-site alternatives.
- Clear market and network theses supporting proposed
portfolio investments before they move into detailed feasibility or
execution.
- A repeatable network-planning approach that enables
comparable footprint decisions across markets.
Success Metrics:
- Completion and decision-readiness of priority market
footprint plans within enterprise planning and investment cycles.
- Clarity and specificity of recommendations on facility mix,
capacity, coverage, density, and location actions.
- Quality of scenario tradeoffs and the degree to which
recommendations distinguish among competing footprint options.
- Alignment of Property Development, Finance, Growth, and
Operations around the market and network rationale for recommended
actions.
- Consistency with which the network-planning methodology is
applied across the portfolio.
Key Internal and External Stakeholders:
- Internal: Sr. Director, Market Development; Senior Analyst /
Analyst, Market & Network Strategy; Property Development; Finance and
FP&A; Growth; Hospital Operations; Senior Manager, Market Intelligence
& Insights; Data Scientist, Market Development; Corporate Development;
Director, Service-Line & Growth Strategy.
- External: Real estate, demographic, market, and industry
data providers or advisors used to support market and network planning.
Experience:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in network strategy, market planning,
portfolio strategy, location strategy, strategic finance, consulting, or a
comparable multi-site planning role.
- Demonstrated experience evaluating physical networks or
multi-site portfolios and recommending expansions, relocations, consolidations,
or new-site development.
- Strong capability in market sizing, demand-and-supply
analysis, competitive assessment, and portfolio scenario development.
- Experience translating analysis into explicit choices about
facility mix, capacity, geographic coverage, and investment sequencing.
- Ability to frame tradeoffs and present a clear
recommendation when multiple footprint configurations are viable.
- Experience partnering with real estate/property, finance,
growth, and operations teams while retaining ownership of the strategic market
and network thesis.
- Experience in veterinary, healthcare services, consumer
services, or another distributed multi-site environment preferred.
Education, Certifications, and Licensing:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Strategy,
Real Estate, Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience,
required.
- MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
- Relevant strategy, finance, real estate, or analytics
credentials are a plus but not required.
Physical Demands
This role is primarily sedentary and performed in an office
or remote environment. It may require occasional travel, extended periods of
sitting, and regular use of a computer and standard office equipment.
