Central Baldwin Veterinary Hospital | Robertsdale, AL
Central Baldwin Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our growing small animal practice in Robertsdale, Alabama. Our two-doctor hospital provides compassionate, high-quality veterinary care to dogs and cats, with plans to welcome additional doctors in the near future.
We're looking for someone with hands-on veterinary experience who is dedicated, organized, compassionate, and excited to be part of a team that's growing together.
About Central Baldwin Veterinary Hospital
Located in Robertsdale in the heart of Baldwin County, Central Baldwin Veterinary Hospital is a small animal practice focused on providing excellent veterinary medicine and a positive experience for pets and their families.
This is an exciting time to join our hospital. We're growing, implementing positive changes, and intentionally building a culture centered around teamwork, communication, support, and high-quality patient care.
What You'll Do
As an experienced Veterinary Assistant, you'll work closely with our veterinarians and support team throughout the patient visit.
Responsibilities may include:
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and medical procedures
- Collect patient histories and obtain vital signs
- Safely handle and restrain dogs and cats
- Assist with sample collection and laboratory diagnostics based on experience and permitted scope
- Support digital radiography and diagnostic procedures
- Prepare patients, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures
- Provide nursing support to hospitalized and post-operative patients
- Administer medications and treatments under appropriate veterinary supervision
- Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment
- Maintain accurate patient records
- Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and patient spaces clean and organized
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with pet owners
- Support boarding and hospitalized patients during scheduled weekend rotations
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who brings both clinical experience and a team-first attitude.
- Previous veterinary hospital experience strongly preferred
- Hands-on clinical Veterinary Assistant experience preferred
- Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs) are also encouraged to apply
- Strong animal handling and restraint skills
- Comfortable working in a busy veterinary hospital environment
- Organized and able to manage multiple priorities
- Dependable and adaptable
- Strong client service and communication skills
- Compassionate approach to patient care
- Willingness to jump in and support the team wherever needed
- Comfortable working in an evolving hospital where processes and responsibilities may continue to grow
We're especially interested in someone who wants to grow with the hospital and contribute to where we're headed.
Schedule
- Full-Time and Part-Time scheduling options
- Typically four 10-hour shifts
- Weekend rotations required for boarding and hospitalized patient care
- Schedule based on hospital and patient-care needs
