Veterinary Technician

Hometown Animal Hospital & All Pets Dental is looking for a Veterinary Technician!

Hometown Animal Hospital & All Pets Dental, owned by National Veterinary Associates, is an AAHA dual-accredited general practice and referral dentistry clinic in Weston, FL. We also offer integrative medicine services including acupuncture and chiropractic care services.

A Veterinary Technician will function mostly in an outpatient and surgical setting working directly with providing care to our patients. A technician is routinely entrusted with (under supervision of a doctor): patient assessments, patient restraint and handling, blood draws, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance, treatment administration, and in-patient hospitalization or nursing care. A technician must be able to work well under pressure, make informed decisions, respond quickly to urgent matters, communicate with different doctors/staff, communicate with clients, and maintain high standards of patient care.

Excellent communication skills and a commitment to outstanding client service are essential. Strong reading, writing and math skills are required.

Expectations

• Work 30-40 hours per week
• Assist doctors with surgical procedures as needed, including advanced dentistry
• Provide patient care, including (under the supervision of a doctor): treatments, injections, evaluations, monitoring, post-surgical care and preparing home care instructions
• Blood draws, radiographs, patient restraint, sample prep, and other basic functions of a diagnostic workup 
• Performing basic lab work
• Care and upkeep of medical equipment and instruments
• Client relations, including outbound calls to clients and face-to-face interaction
• Updating patient medical records to reflect care given
• Ensure client satisfaction through excellent service
• Inform clients about products and services offered

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1-year veterinary clinic experience
• Licensed, Certified and Registered Veterinary Technicians HIGHLY encouraged!
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Avimark experience a PLUS!
• Bilingual applicants welcomed!
