What We're Looking For:

An experienced Veterinarian who cares about practicing high-quality medicine, desire for leadership, communicates effectively, cares deeply about clients and their pets, and enjoys working with quality staff in a busy but rewarding practice. 

Medical Director Leadership Qualities:

The Medical Director will continue practicing medicine, maintaining appointment days and at least one dedicated surgical day each week. Our ideal candidate will cultivate a positive, supportive environment that promotes learning and collaboration across the team. We are looking for someone who inspires teamwork and leads by example. A passion for delivering high-quality medical care, educating clients, and providing exceptional service to our loyal clientele is essential.

Responsibilities:

·Oversee and develop the surgical and medical direction of the practice, ensuring that standards of care and best practices are consistently followed by the medical team.

·Provide leadership in maintaining medical standards, ensuring high-quality care, and managing inventory effectively.

·Participate in the recruitment and interview process for doctors and, when appropriate, other staff members.

·Demonstrate a passion for mentoring Associate Veterinarians, including supporting and guiding new graduates.

·Monitor doctor performance and productivity, providing feedback and support as needed.

·Ensure all medical staff receive appropriate and ongoing training.

·Collaborate with the Hospital Manager to support and implement staff training programs.

Qualifications:

·Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from an accredited university

·Licensure in good standing to practice in the state of Virginia or ability to acquire one

·DEA License
