We are looking for an experienced full-time groomer to join our passionate team at Overland Animal Hospital and Pet Resort. Our pet groomers are a crucial part of our organization, building lasting relationships with customers and providing quality care to pets. This is a great opportunity for someone who is an animal lover who already knows the ins and outs of grooming and can hit the ground running! Our ideal candidate will be able to groom all breeds especially larger breeds, customer service oriented and patient with both pets and people.

Overland Animal Hospital and Resort is a beautiful, fully equipped facility that includes a General Practice Medical facility of 4 doctors Monday through Saturday, a large pet resort that includes boarding and daycare as well as our grooming facility in 18,000 square feet. through our partnership with National Veterinary Association, we offer a comprehensive benefits program for full time employees including medical, dental and vision coverage, a 401k with employer match and paid time off for all eligible employees with paid sick and safe leave in accordance with the requirements of Colorado's Healthy Families and Workplace Act.

Objectives of this Role

-Deliver outstanding customer service to pet owners by executing style requests, communicating clearly and honestly and bringing a positive attitude to work each day.

-Provide exemplary cosmetic care for pets, being gentle and patient with anxious and difficult animals.

-Protect the best interests of our customers and their pets, notifying customers of any concerns, including skin abnormalities, ear infections, ticks, fleas or any changes to their original requests.

-Help our organization continue to grow by forming fruitful relationships with customers that result in repeat visits.

Responsibilities 

-Clean and freshen pet hair by washing, shampooing and conditioning it.

-Shave, trim and style pet hair according to the owners preferences.

-Maintain overall pet hygiene by clipping nails, brushing teeth and cleaning ears.

-Monitor and ensure pet safety and wellbeing during appointments.

-maintain grooming equipment, ensuring cleanliness and in good working order.

-maintain a clean and organized workstation by sanitizing and sweeping after every client and at the end of the work day.

-Communicate clearly with the customers timely of any issues, concerns or changes.

-Advise owners on at home care tips and best practices for their pets grooming care.

Required Skills and Qualifications

-6 months of grooming experience and customer service

-A demonstrated passion for animals.

-Ability to work comfortably with animals including anxious ones.

-Profound knowledge of different dog breeds and their grooming requirements.

-Skillful in handling animals calmly, compassionately and safely.

-Ability to stand for at least 2 hours and lift animals over 50 pounds.

-Willingness to learn new techniques and skills.

-Ability to identify potential health or skin conditions.

-Excellent communication skills.

Excellent attention to detail

-Physical stamina to handle and groom large or unruly animals over 50 lbs.

Compensation

-This position is commission based. You will be paid 50% of the grooming services you provide plus tips. For your benefitted time off you will receive an hourly rate of $20 an hour for accrued vacation, sick and holiday pay.
